In-Office Sessions
In-office appointments are the most common
service at Marquette Counseling. We are located in
a peaceful office setting away from the busyness of
vibrant, downtown Chapel Hill but still a hop, skip,
and a jump away. We are also a short distance from
South Durham, Fearrington, and Carrboro. There are
quaint, country roads to get to our practice and
downtown Chapel Hill traffic can be avoided for the
most part unless coming directly from this area.
Many clients prefer telehealth sessions as well.
Telehealth appointments can be beneficial for the
following reasons:
Financial considerations regarding gas money.
Long distance from the office.
Work constraints.
Inclement weather.
Childcare constraints (as long as children in the
home are old enough to monitor themselves).Physical illness but want to meet online.
Continuity of care if a client moves to another
part of the state. If a client would like to be seen a bit sooner and
there is an opening day of.
Virtual Sessions
We also provide quality Community-Based OPT up
to a twenty minute drive from the office.
Community-Based OPT may be held in a range of
settings including in the home or in a coffee shop. In
these instances an additional Community-Based
OPT contract is provided.
Clients may want Community-Based OPT, or a
combination of Virtual and Community-Based OPT
for one or more of the following reasons:
Client is physically disabled and must receive
services within the home.Client has mild psychosis and depression.
Client has financial constraints for gas money
but would still like to meet in-person.Client needs their therapist to attend a meeting
with them that is related to their
health/school/work (as client’s insurance
allows).Client has severe agoraphobia, social anxiety,
fear of driving or another phobia justifying
Community-Based OPT.

Community-Based OPT
Marquette Counseling provides Outdoor Therapy to
clients who prefer this modality at one of five
different scenic locations. Though often called “Walk
and Talk,” sessions can take place either on a path
or while sitting on a bench or at a picnic table. There
are some limitations to confidentiality and with
physical safety due to accidental tripping or falling,
etc. with this modality so please be aware.
As weather allows, clients may want to have outdoor
sessions for the following reasons:
To receive benefits of mild exercise while having
a standard talk therapy session. To decrease rumination by being outdoors.
To receive benefits around mood, cognitive
function, various mental health symptoms, blood
pressure, and stress reduction by being
outdoors. It has also been proven that just 15 minutes of
sunlight can reduce mental health symptoms.

Outdoor Therapy
Tina Marquette is a counselor and licensed
clinical social worker with over nine years of
experience working in mental health and medical
outpatient settings. She has experience serving
adults, seniors, and adolescents. Tina enjoys
utilizing MET, ACT, Solution-focused, DBT, CBT, and
EFT. Tina received her Master’s in Clinical Social
Work at VCU in 2015. Tina grew up in Greensboro
in a Greek family. She is a wife, daughter, and a
sister. In her free time, she can be found spending
time with family, friends, and her dogs, playing
music, and being outdoors.
Tina’s therapy style is one of care, non-judgment,
transparency, and collaboration - supporting
clients to find solutions that fit their personalities,
their strengths, interests, and objectives. She has
been told on multiple occasions that she “really
makes you think.” She enjoys supporting clients to
process difficult upbringings, and those who feel
non-resilient and undeserving.
It has been shared that Tina does very well with
catering to unconventional and more unique
clients with their own special wisdom. Tina has a
history of severe trauma in her early twenties and
believes having this history greatly helps and
informs her practice. She in unafraid of the
trauma of others and of going ankle-deep in the
mud so to speak to assist. She very rarely feels
burnt out because what she has gone through
has built her know-how and puts her in a unique
position to understand those who have significant
or severe trauma and/or chronic conditions.

Please keep in mind that if I am listed as In-network with your insurance that there will be your usual copay, coinsurance, or deductible payment even if my out-of-pocket fee is lower due to insurance regulations. If this cost is high I would recommend meeting with a provider who is Out-of-network for you or is private pay only who has a reasonable out-of-pocket rate.
If you are unsure about your copay, coinsurance, or deductible payment (it is often on the back of your insurance card) and are worried about this amount, please call your insurance company to verify the cost for an intake and a one-hour mental health therapy session.
Types of Medicare Accepted
Once you contact your insurance company for this information, you will likely need to speak with either a Benefits and Eligibility or a Behavioral Health rep through the member services/customer service line listed on your card. At the beginning of services I will run an eligibility check that will let you know if I am In-network for you, and this will also usually provide a best estimate regarding one’s copay rate, but this is not always a guarantee. Please feel to contact me with additional questions.
